Work underground
The Simulated Mine is an accurate, immersive recreation of a real gallery. It lets visitors experience mining work firsthand in a safe, educational, and accessible environment.
01.
The concept
Our Simulated Mine is inspired by the training facilities of the same name built by Schools of Mines for student practice. These simulation spaces faithfully reproduced actual underground conditions for educational purposes.
02.
The senses
The darkness, sounds, and atmosphere transport you to experience what working in a mine was like, along with its challenges and the strong camaraderie forged underground. A direct immersion into the daily reality of mining.
03.
The experience
The tour begins in the cage—the mine elevator—recreating the descent into the depths of the earth. From the landing point, museum guides lead visitors through over 1,000 meters (3,200 feet) of galleries showcasing the evolution of mining techniques and machinery from the 19th century to the present day.
04.
The tour
The visit takes about 45 minutes and is a safe, educational activity suitable for all audiences.
