What to see

The Headframe
The mining headframe overlooking the main entrance is one of MUMI’s most iconic landmarks and a unique vantage point over the Nalón Valley landscape. Standing nearly 20 meters (~65 feet) high—roughly equivalent to a six-story building—it offers sweeping views that show how mining and industry transformed the region and its communities.
01.
High-altitude access
For safety reasons, climbing the headframe has specific restrictions and is not suitable for all visitors. Guided visits are conducted in groups led by museum staff, carry an extra charge on top of general admission, and require signing a safety agreement before ascending. Click here for complete details.
02.
Step back in time
The climb features an Augmented Reality experience that recreates the local landscape and daily life around 1940. It offers a glimpse of a territory in transition—where traditional farming coexisted with rising industry—before the changes that shaped today’s mining basins took hold.
